This website is based on the exhibition America's Mayor: John V. Lindsay and the Reinvention of the New York, May 5 to October, 2010, at the Museum of the City of New York and on the companion book of the same name, edited by Sam Roberts and published by Columbia University Press and the Museum of the City of New York. Valuable content was also provided by WNET.org, from their documentary, The Lindsay Years, which is part of this multi-part project to reconsider the tenure of John V. Lindsay.

John Lindsay's charsimatic persona worked wonders when he took to the streets to campaign for mayor, here seen in his first bid for office in 1965.
